- provides reliable services and training to faculty, post-doctorates, technicians, and graduate students on campus. Research is conducted to advance the scientific development of transformation and transgene technology.
- serves to stimulate links between research and industry to foster collaborative research and marketing opportunities.
By working with the plant's basic genetic material, scientists are working to:
- Support a sustainable agro-ecosystem
- Engineer crops that lead to decreased pesticide use
- Increase field and postharvest resistance to pests and diseases
- Enhance traits in plants that make them more useful and beneficial to consumers
